As part of their celebration of Edgar Allen Poe this month, the folks over at Innsmouth Free Press are holding a haiku contest. There are some sweet prizes available, including a Poe action figure to the first prize winner.
I do think it’s hard not to feel pretentious when writing a haiku, but it’s fun to try and create an image or a mood with only 17 syllables. Click on the raven above for more info and in the meantime here is one of mine.
Autumn’s vibrant seduction
Red crunch of dead leaves
Repast of the eery; weird.
